Upper Mustang situated in the shower follower of the Himalayas is maybe the last reserve of pristine Tibetan culture. Prohibited and inaccessible from the rest of the world. It was able to evolve its own distinctive culture and tradition which is so rich and unique. Lo-Mustang, the capital is a walled city ruled by a religious king. Untouched by current civilization, life in Mustang goes on as it has for centuries at a leisurely pace. As everywhere in the Himalayas, this area delivers spectacular mountain background decorated by Dhaulagiri at 8164 meters (26, 795 ft) and Annapurna I at 8091 meters (26,545 ft.) you will be bounded by more than 35 mountains over 6000 meters (19,680 ft) high. The advancement of the trails rises from 2815 meters (9,233 ft.) to 3780 meters (12398 ft) overhead sea level. Along the way you can see hundreds of old monasteries, shorten, old cave, old villages as a well good view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range includes many peaks. Inhabit by Tibetan people who are emigrating from Tibet nearly thousand years ago. In this region due to temperature and less rain even in monsoon season doesn’t much sport to group more foods, each year they only able to grow one item food like a barley, wide and potato are the major farming here, others necessary goods they supply from a lower part of Nepal. Winters are very cold weather here because of heavy snowing everywhere in the region , most of the people use to go down to Pokhara or Kathmandu, only a few people use to live in villages for look after house and animal, but in spring everyone return back to village for trade and farming, as well as monsoon is the good temperature for life in this region.
Mustang is famous for being an important salt trading post in the Trans Himalayan belt and is thus yak caravans and traders are a common sight here. This trek is unlike any other and is sure to give you a lifetime experience and many memories sights and scenes.
Short itinerary
Day 1: Meet and greet at airport, transfer to hotel.
Day2: Get permits, trip preparation or visit ancient old temples in Kathmandu.
Day3: Fly or drive to Pokhara. Pokhara sightseeing if you take flight
Day4: Fly to Jomsom (8921ft. 2720m) and trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Day5: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m) via Tangbe/Chhusang for lunch.
Day6: Trek to Gilling (11709ft. 3570m). Explore monasteries and village.
Day7: Trek to Ghami (3,460m/11,352ft). Explore monasteries and village.
Day8: Trek to Charanag (11677ft. 3560m). Explore monasteries and village.
Day9: Trek to Lo Manthang (12,238ft. 3,730m). Visit monasteries, king´s palace, and museum.
Day10: Excursion Choser village, back to Lo Manthang after visiting monasteries and caves.
Day11: Trek to Ghargompa, Visit the monastery.
Day12: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m)
Day13: Trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Day14: Trek to Jomsom
Day15: Fly back to Pokhara and sightseeing around Lakeside.
Day16: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus at 7:30 am and transfer to hotel.
Day 01: Meet and greet at airport, transfer to hotel.
Our airport representative will be in Tribhuvan International Airport to receive you and transfer you to the hotel. And take rest as you will be tired.
Day 02: Get permits, trip preparation or visit ancient old temples in Kathmandu.
You will get permits to trip preparation and also visit all the cultural heritages of Kathmandu valleys such as; Pashupatinath temple, Swyambhunath, Boudhanath, etc.
Day 03: Fly or drive to Pokhara. Pokhara sightseeing if you take flight
Fly or drive to Pokhara. If you take a flight then you would have time for visiting some of the places Pokhara.
Day 04: Fly to Jomsom (8921ft. 2720m) and trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Flight to Jomsom (2720m) which is a major village on the Kali Gandaki area linking the age-old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. After three hours walk from Jomsom slowly we will reach to Kagbeni the altitude of which is 2810m. In Kagbeni a major tributary Kak Khola, coming from Muktinath, meets Mustang Khola, and from there the river is called the Kali Gandaki. We make overnight stay in a teahouse.
Day 05: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m) via Tangbe/Chhusang for lunch.
Trekking towards Chele will give you lots of fun and also a chance to observe the mountains, hills and other natural beauties of Nepal. We will go through Tangbe or Chhusang and have lunch over there.
Day 06: Trek to Gilling (11709ft. 3570m). Explore monasteries and village.
Trekking to Gilling gives you an opportunities to learn more about the people’s lifestyle and culture of the people living over there. It explores the monasteries and villages all around the ways.
Day 07: Trek to Ghami (3,460m/11,352ft). Explore monasteries and village.
Trek from Ghemi to Charang (3560m) for four to five hrs. We start after breakfast with a pleasant walk. After crossing Ghemi Khola the trail climbs to a plateau and passes beside a very long Mani wall – a sacred stone wall made by the followers Buddhism. From the end of the wall, the trail heads east to the village of Charang with a maze of fields, willow trees, and houses. Here you can visit Gelup Sect 400 yrs old Gumba. In a teahouse here we make tonight stop.
Day 08: Trek to Charanag (11677ft. 3560m). Explore monasteries and village.
Trek from Charang to Lo-Manthang (3810m) for five hrs. We start after the breakfast with a magnificent view of Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna I and Bhrikuti Peak. We continue leaving some ridge behind and cross a small stream before we finally reach a pass from where we can see a great view of Lo-Manthang. Descending further and crossing yet another stream, we climb up into the plateau of Lo-Manthang which is the capital of Upper Mustang. We make a night in a teahouse.
Day 09: Trek to Lo Manthang (12,238ft. 3,730m). Visit monasteries, king´s palace, and museum.
Excursions around Lo-Manthang with the horse. Near there are many historical places to see like Namagyal Gumba (3910m), Thinggar (4025m) and Gharphu Gumba (3900m). To see them all it’s take around four – five hrs by a horse. We can also walk which takes a long time.
Day 10: Excursion Choser village, back to Lo Manthang after visiting monasteries and caves.
We will visit Choser village and learn the culture and tradition of the people living over there and then return back to Lo Manthang after visiting monasteries and caves.
Day 11: Trek to Ghargompa, Visit the monastery.
Trekking to Ghargompa will give you an opportunities to know about the culture and tradition over there and also visit the natural beauties. We will visit the monastery over there.
Day 12: Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m)
Trekking to Chele which is 10004ft.and 3050m is a lifetime experience to learn more about the lifestyle of people living over there.
Day 13: Trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).
Kagbeni has become a famous for the visitors. Trekking to Kagbeni is about the distance of 9216ft and 2810m.
Day 14: Trek to Jomsom
Trekking to Jomsom is famous in Nepal. As it is the last part of trekking you will be enjoying it.
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara and sightseeing around Lakeside.
We will fly back to Pokhara and visit some of the places in Pokhara like; temples, lakes etc.
Day 16: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus at 7:30 am and transfer to hotel.
We will return back to Kathmandu through tourist bus early in the morning and transfer back to the hotel.
